Riverside Academy is a program providing specialized treatment services for male youth ages 14 to 18 who exhibit primary substance abuse issues as substantiated by a DSM-IV diagnosis.  The program provides comprehensive substance abuse, mental health and medical diagnotic assessments upon admission, individual/group substance abuse treatment services, comprehensive psychological/psychiatric evaluations and individual/group mental health treatment services.  On site vocational services, medical services, case management serivces, family system intervention and treatment services, care and custody services within a structured behavior management system are all provided.  Typical length of stay is six to nine months.

Academic programs are provided by Hillsborough County Public Schools (HCPS).  Students are enrolled in the district MIS system.  All teachers are certified as defined by No Child Left Behind.  A formal cooperative agreement between the district and DJJ is in place.
